MY RESPONSE TO MY REQUEST LOOKING FOR VOLUNTEERS

Steven Quon September 30, 2019

I just finished replying back to everyone from my post on Friday looking for volunteers.

I had over 300 people contact me, wanting to work with me on my upcoming experiment. Wow, I didn't expect that big of a reaction, I thought I would be lucky to have a handful of people interested, if that. Thank you for everyone's interest. :)

When I used the term "model" in my post, I meant it in a generic way. I think many felt that I was looking specifically for someone that has (or does) posed for media, however that's not the case. I'm not superficial and anyone can look outstanding on camera, as long as that person is working with a photographer who knows what he/she is doing. I will say it again, a great portrait photographer has the ability to make 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 look their best on camera.

There are many ingredients that make a great portrait and what I do to set the stage (which I will go much more in detail on it in my upcoming Equine Photography Workshop on November 2), but regardless of a person's age, looks, size, for me it's all about capturing that individual just being him/herself.

So where do I go from here? Well, it's going to be tough to choose but I will go through the list of names and information that I've been given and go with the opportunity that I feel will set my experiment up with what I would see to be one of the best fits and the most potential. Obviously with this many people contacting me and having this many options to choose from, I know there are many best fits, I just have to choose one. Then when the Fall colors arrive, I will set a date to make this happen.

MY EMAIL NEWSLETTER IS COMING!

Steven Quon September 29, 2019

Something that I've been wanting to integrate for a long time now, is finally coming soon - my official 𝗘𝗠𝗔𝗜𝗟 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦𝗟𝗘𝗧𝗧𝗘𝗥 (that will go out weekly) and there's going to be clear distinct benefits to those who subscribe to it.

Why am I a big fan of email marketing? Not only is it essential for any business out there today but it builds relationships on a different level than social media does, while 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗯𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻.

MY SECOND EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOP HAS BEEN SCHEDULED

Steven Quon September 28, 2019

My second Equine Photography workshop has now been scheduled and I have 5 of 6 spots left. By popular request, I am repeating the Equine Portraiture theme (I expect this to be one of the top themes that I offer).

My apologies for the delay to get the details finalized as I had quite a few people inquiring last week about the date and location soon after I posted this video.

UPCOMING EXPERIMENT, NEED VOLUNTEERS

Steven Quon September 27, 2019

I am looking for one individual who would like to model with their horse and two volunteer assistants who will help me out on set. I can't do this without assistants so finding two would be key.

With it now being Fall season (some of the best colors to photograph in my opinion), one of the side projects that I have on my list to do will require a confident model, their horse and two assistants.

One of the most vital elements that I keep pushing myself in, is always finding new ways to be different, to find that next gear, and to use technology to my advantage. Then take these technological advances and the skills of the trade, that I have learned and relied on time and time again in my career from working in other industries and practice the hell out of my work, while letting my creativity fly.

What I have in mind is a vision that I've had from day one when I started my business. I've always wanted to put this vision into practice, I just haven't been able to because photographing flight animals like horses, doesn't give you the same options in how you can use technology like you would photographing just people. And also, I had to find the right time before bringing this experiment in.

Being a go-getter and with what I have accomplished thus far, I feel that now is the time for me to see if I can inject these pieces of technology into my creative style and overall technique. This will be a highly experimental project and I won't know if I'll be able to incorporate this style of photography into my business until I actually try it but I guarantee it will be a lot of fun!

So who would like to be my model and assistants? Shoot me a message if interested. Thank you.

NEW BUSINESS CARDS ARE IN!

Steven Quon September 26, 2019

Out with the old, in with the new. Because I have expanded by recently adding a fourth core service (Equine Photography Commercial), I had to get new cards. This is a 17pt card with soft touch laminate and spot UV on my logo. I have always wanted to get spot UV on my cards, the cost was always just too high to get it done but now that the costs have really come down, I decided to put it on.

This time I decided to revamp the entire front side by getting rid of the photos on it and instead gave it some splash to make it pop.

In my opinion, business cards are all about readability. You can have the fanciest card in the world but if people can't make out the information on it with ease, it's garbage. My priority will always remain the same and that is, as soon as someone picks up my card, I want them to immediately know exactly what I can do for them and how to find me with the most minimal effort required. I feel this front side is very bold, eye-catching and direct.

BUCK BRANNAMAN IS COMING TO MY WORKS

Steven Quon September 23, 2019

Buck Brannaman is coming to my portfolio and what an asset he is going to be in my current works! I have been given the green light to photograph Buck in his November Alberta clinic. I am just not allowed in the ring with him (which would have been even better), since I've been informed that there is a show photographer for this clinic.

This will be a tough arena to photograph in, but regardless with what limitations I have, I still always find a way to get those moments.

I am looking forward to capturing the dedication and passion that this man has for horses and what he does.

Thank you to Dave Gamble and Karen Megert for making this happen.

ANNOUNCING IN PERSON EQUINE PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS!

Steven Quon September 22, 2019

Today, I would like to officially announce the first of two components that will make up my new 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿 service and that is, 𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀. Starting off specifically with 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗵𝗼𝘁𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗮𝗽𝗵𝘆 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀.

I will be running a second workshop in the first half of November, I will post the event once I get all the details finalized.

The big vision that I have for my Equine Photography Workshops marketing video is going to take a bunch of workshops to happen first to put it all together, as it requires multiple pieces, so for the time being I wanted to put out a small clip that solely focuses on the one-on-one teaching aspect and it should give you a glimpse on what it would be like to learn from me.

Thank you to Alanna Landymore, Bethany Hierden, Karen Barker and Heather Thompson taking part and being a part of this day. There was one no show and a couple of individuals who could not make it due to illness - glad to hear you guys are on the mend.

For full details on my 𝗜𝗻 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗸𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗽𝘀 and 5 reasons on why you should be a part of them, click https://www.stevenquon.com/costs-equine-photography-workshops
