2 YEAR ANNIVERSARY

Steven Quon October 10, 2019

It's been 730 days since I made the big decision to do what I do professionally and I immediately started writing my business plan, followed by 2 intensive weeks creating my website. Strategic planning is so important when starting a business because it's all about business development, hitting your targets, reaching goals, learning from your mistakes, improving yourself, elevating your brand, working towards the long term picture and ultimately giving your niche market what they want to see and hear.

This was a path that I had many doubters at the time (not on Facebook, a different community), who all strongly advised me to not take this route until I gained experience in the horse world. That I was 100% destined to fail if I jumped right in (especially cold turkey), in a completely new industry that I had zero experience in.

Well despite what I was being told, I still pursued my dreams because it all came down to me believing in myself.

It's been a heck of a second year, reaching new milestones, meeting and working with so many wonderful new and familiar faces, getting more marketing pieces done, expanding my products and services, and the third year will be even busier, bigger and better. But bigger and better requires even more hard work and steeper challenges, I'm ready for it. I couldn't have done this without such a supportive group of friends.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, each and every time I work with someone, I learn something new to either manage or apply it moving forward. The learning experiences that I went through in my first year were instrumental but the ones that I went through in my second year are on a whole new level.

So what can you expect from me in year #3? Well, I'm going to continue with what's been working and as many of you have already figured it out, I am putting a lot of focus on the educational side, as there is one big product and one big service that I am working on for a 2020 release.

But it goes beyond that, I'm hoping to start hitting the road again but I just need to lay the foundation to my 2020 product first, as it will open up so many more pathways and doors for opportunities and growth.

If you told me at the start of this year, that Dubai would be the only destination that I would be travelling to in all of 2019, I would have disagreed. Getting ill and not being well enough to travel despite being given numerous invites throughout the year was definitely not the outcome that I was expecting at the time. But we live, we learn and we take the initiative to improve ourselves for next time so that we don't make the same mistakes.

With that being said, a return trip back to Dubai in my third year is a possibility but it hugely depends on many factors and how the timing goes.

I'm so grateful that so many people enjoy seeing my work. I'm a strong believer that if you don't put in the hard work, you won't see success and this includes stepping outside your boundaries when required. So expect to see some new impressive things in year #3.

KNABSTRUPPER STALLION, RAFFI

Steven Quon October 9, 2019

Just recently I started working with this fellow, CW Alberta Rain (Raffi), who is a Knabstrupper stallion but we had to re-schedule because of the weather. Here he is during his inspection.

Seeing how I not only do photos but video as well, it's one of my knowledge bases that I can use to my advantage. If you have horses of a very rare breed (like Raffi) or ones that you just want to show to the world - I can showcase your horses for you through pictures and video. Yes, this includes horses that you are planning on selling.

There will be more to come on Raffi.

LOVE THIS QUOTE!

Steven Quon October 8, 2019

I love this inspirational quote as it can relate to anyone, regardless what your profession is. To me, it's not even a question, I would far much rather be known for greatness than to settle for being mediocre.

CHRISTMAS 2019 - EQUINE PORTRAITURE SPECIAL, ONE TIME OFFER

Steven Quon October 7, 2019

I am now booking Equine Portraiture sessions for this Christmas.

One thing that I've learned over time and from having received a lot of feedback from many of you, is that I don't believe that there are many people out there who wouldn't love pictures of them with their horses especially at Christmas time, however with how busy this time of year is for just about everyone, not everyone has the budget to make this happen.

This Christmas, I want to make this wish happen for many of you, so I am now offering a 𝗢𝗡𝗘-𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥 (at Christmas time only), where if you can find a friend of yours (who boards at the same facility as you do), both of you can get 3 pictures from me in a mini portraiture session at a very affordable price.

Right now, I am booking 6 weeks out, so available bookings will be from 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗡𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟭𝟲 𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗹 𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆 𝗗𝗲𝗰𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗲𝗿 𝟮𝟯𝗿𝗱, 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵. Limited spots available, as I can only dedicate a certain amount of time within this time period.

Not everyone wants or needs 10 pictures, some may only want a few and with Christmas time coming, there is no better time to fulfill this wish for many of you.

Speaking of specials, I don't believe too many are aware of my current (also permanent) "Special Boarders package" where if you get a group of 4 individuals together at your barn, each person will receive 5 portrait photos at a discounted rate in a smaller portrait session than what my lowest session offers (1 hour).

For more info on my 𝗢𝗡𝗘-𝗧𝗜𝗠𝗘 𝗢𝗙𝗙𝗘𝗥, click HERE.

NEW LEARNING PRODUCT COMING IN Q1 2020!

Steven Quon October 5, 2019

For those of you outside of Alberta who would like to learn photography from me and more specifically how to take better pictures, I have some very exciting news for all of you. :)

The second component of my Equine Educator service (Online Learning, I haven't come up with a name for it yet) is realistically going to take me close to (if not) a year to build it before it's ready to be shown to the public.

However, I don't like to keep any of you waiting, so I will be coming out with another learning product for some time in Q1 2020 (taking it everything goes smoothly, which I am confident that it will), so that any of you can take advantage of it and jump into my educational services sooner rather than later. I am able to come out with this new product much sooner because it will run off an entirely different marketing blueprint and I already have a lot of the pieces put into place for it.

With that being said, there is a lot more to it than just creating the product and then putting it out there. And as you already know, quality will always be my #1 priority in everything that I offer. I have to build and integrate all the back end stuff that will push and funnel this product, so this will take me some time but with winter coming, and show season just about over, I will have plenty of time this winter to work on all of this.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗯𝗲 𝗵𝗶𝗴𝗵𝗹𝘆 𝗯𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘄𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗹𝗶𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗼 𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗿𝗻 𝗵𝗼𝘄 𝘁𝗼 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗯𝗲𝘁𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝗽𝗶𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀, regardless if you are in Alberta, in the US, or on the other side of the world. You can achieve anything when you have the right attitude and it ultimately boils down to one thing - self belief.

I am so excited for this product, I have huge expectations for it.

Thanks Heather Thompson for this picture.

UPDATE WITH CBC

Steven Quon October 3, 2019

Many have been wondering what's been happening between CBC and I ever since I had the first point of contact with them.

Well, they loved my idea but unfortunately because they only have a limited number of slots available and with the thousands of applicants that they receive every year, they have to carefully choose which proposals they feel will compliment each other the best, to fit in with their big vision, so they often have to eliminate many worthy ideas. So unfortunately, you won't be seeing my vision to represent the Equestrian world on their network - at least not for now.

That's completely understandable. 𝗜 𝗱𝗼𝗻'𝘁 𝗳𝗲𝗮𝗿 𝗿𝗲𝗷𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗜 𝗲𝗺𝗯𝗿𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗶𝘁. I become stronger, because how one handles rejection speaks volumes about their resiliency. And to get "yes's" you will often have to go through many "no's."

Two very important things that I would like to mention.
1) This is not to say that I won't be submitting more of my ideas to them (as I brainstorm them) as time goes on.
2) It doesn't mean that I still can't go ahead with exactly what I have in mind when I feel that the time is right for it.

Putting yourself out there and tossing your idea to a wide genre 83 year old National broadcast network is tough and it takes courage, but I still sincerely thank the CBC network for seriously considering my vision and to reach out to me.

I still have no doubt in my mind, that the idea that I have in mind for this short documentary would be monumental. It's still on my list to do, but getting on with CBC definitely would have for sure jump started it. So in other words, you will see this short documentary one day, it just won't be through CBC.
