REMAINING PICTURES FROM THE 114TH MILLARVILLE RACES

Steven Quon July 8, 2019

Here are the rest of the pictures from the Indian Relay Race last week, including a Side Saddle one. I just love catching these moments that happen so quick and can easily be overlooked. Overall a fun event to see and very different from the traditional events.

COMPLETED ANOTHER WILD HORSE TRIP

Steven Quon July 7, 2019

One thing I don't do very often is take pictures with my phone, this one is off my phone from last night. I love storms for photo opportunities and had to pay the price and get pelted with hail to capture this. I got struck right in the eye with a hail ball that stunned me but I was okay.

I was very fortunate to escape this bad storm. I've never seen rain come down so hard and the roads were just a mud slide. I would have loved to continue working in it with the wildies but it was too dangerous.

This kind of weather with wildies was a real sight to see, especially since the last bunch I crossed paths with were 4 or 5 bands for a total of 45+ horses in one big open field.

It's just too bad that a helicopter was out circling all of them the entire time I was out there.

114TH MILLARVILLE RACES

Steven Quon July 4, 2019

Here are my efforts from this past Monday at the Millarville Races.

The thing with film making is that it's very easy to have all these extravagant ideas and rich visionaries running through your mind when story boarding your content, but it requires a perfect (or near perfect) scenario where all the pieces have to fall into place and more often than not, that will not happen. So adapting to what's presented to you in the moment and having the ability to make ultra quick adjustments on the fly, which includes brainstorming completely new shots as needed is a necessity.

I love this video as there is so much interpretation behind it, that I guarantee that you’ll have to watch it several times to pick up on all the little bits of attention to detail from start to finish.

I wasn’t able to get everything on my list and some things had to be done differently simply from certain cases being unavailable but I modified my story on the fly to shape the event. I wanted to put a strong emphasis on the kids and show how this type of event affects all generations.

Be sure to turn your sound up first and enjoy!

FIRST EXPERIENCE WITH INDIAN RELAY RACES

Steven Quon July 2, 2019

Having seen my first Indian Relay race yesterday, the first notable thing that I learned (aside from the bright racing colors which I love), is the high energy they bring to their races and with that high energy comes some interesting moments and reactions.

INTRODUCING EQUINE PORTRAITURE: CHERISH!

Steven Quon June 28, 2019

I've decided to put out my 4th type of Equine Portraiture right away, since I am going to be busy filming two new videos in August and the second one is going to be pretty darn special.

It is called 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘: 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗛.

Senior horses are the best teachers, and terminally ill horses are the most courageous fighters.

When your horse ages or becomes sick, you often feel like you are grieving alone and it's understandable to worry about what lies ahead.

During these times, horses require extra care, love and attention to avoid serious health concerns. While they may not be as young and healthy as they once were, nothing would make you happier than seeing your horse enjoying life by merely just being a horse and spending time with their friends.

Give the gift of love to your senior or ill equine partner by showing them your appreciation for everything they have done for you.

DO YOUR HORSES GET YEARLY CHECKUPS?

Steven Quon June 27, 2019

Everyone is different - some do checkups once or twice a year, others don't do them at all, and other's may do it every Spring with shots.

What about you?

LOOKING FOR A TALENTED UAV PILOT

Steven Quon June 24, 2019

This is an area that I've unfortunately sunk endless amounts of hours thinking about over the past year and with the new Transport Canada regulations as of June 1, 2019, it has got me re-visiting this idea all over again.

Do I go out and buy a drone for myself, invest my time to get better at flying one (haven't flown one in two years with under 10 hours fly time) and go through the process of getting certified as a UAV pilot? Or do I partner up with an already certified, insured and experienced UAV pilot who has been doing this for years?

Very tough call. Even though I am confident with time and practice that I could get quite good doing aerial work and a drone is still on my bucket list but it's not near the top as I have other priorities to invest into. And of course the biggest barrier is time, when you only have so much, you have to sink your time into what are the best ROI's. But who knows, maybe I eventually do decide to just do it all myself as there are pros and cons to each situation.

So right now I am looking for an on-going certified and talented UAV pilot who would be interested in partnering up and working with me on future projects. If you happen to know anyone, send me an email displaying your current aerial work and skill set at hello@stevenquon.com

Thanks. :)
