INTERVIEW WITH GRANT MACKINNON TO BE RESCHEDULED

Sorry everyone, the interview with certified Equine Dentist Grant MacKinnon will be rescheduled for another date, as unfortunately just as we were all set up this morning (everything was picture PERFECT!) and ready to start filming, we ran into tech issues with one of our key components in the set up. So we decided to take everything down and re-schedule for another day.

Quality will always be my #1 priority when it comes to my work and even though Grant and I were really excited to do the interview, we both agreed that it just wasn't our day. Short term sacrifice, long term rewards.

I spent a good amount of time troubleshooting our tech issue afterwards and am finding a long term solution for it as I never resort to band-aid fixes. Over the years I've been taught (and in many ways the hard way) that part of video work is dealing with tech issues, stuff will break or malfunction when you need it the most - that's just technology for you. You can never completely eliminate the chances of this happening but you always do your best in keeping it to the absolute minimum. This is why videographers and crews have back ups of just about every device in their setups - cameras, mics, memory cards, lights, power sources, batteries, etc... the list goes on and on.

I will keep you posted as we find a new date to shoot this interview. Thank you for understanding. :)

FINDING MY ASSISTANTS

Here is just an update regarding my "Assistants" positions (main assistant, backup assistant) since I originally posted an ad for it over a month ago and many are curious where I am in the process and whether I have found two people yet.

It has been a very long process but I am extremely confident that I have found my side kicks this time around. I have narrowed it down to my top 3 candidates right now, in which I will be individually trying out my top 2 out in the field for a day over the next little while.

Getting to know these candidates over the phone is great but it all comes down to seeing how they work with me in the real world in real time situations.

It's been a long haul but the final door is just about there. :)

It is that time again. Over this winter, I will be shooting my next marketing video. I have received very positive feedback on my previous marketing videos that I have shot this past summer and have been itching to put out my next one. I was originally wanting to film this next video in the Fall (my favorite season) but unfortunately I am not going to have enough time and the winter is when things quiet down a bit so that is when I focus on the back end fundamentals of my business - marketing, SEO, etc.

I will need 3 to 4 people (who all have horses, but don't worry not all of you will be needing your horses) who live within 100km of Calgary, with diverse backgrounds and age differences, who would love to be the stars of my next video. I will need a place to film it so at least one of the 3 or 4 people must have a place willing to use for the filming. There is a very specific culture that I am going for in this video.

You must be able to handle the winter cold since there is a good chance this will be filmed in the winter (perhaps around Christmas time) all dependent on my availability. Nothing severe like a -30C day, but it may be a few degrees below zero.

Well that time of year is right upon us once again, yes I am preparing for this before Halloween since I won't be here this Halloween.

There are so many horse owners and lovers who take pictures of them with their horse(s) at the holidays and I would tend to think that very few would not like professional photos of them with their equine partners at this special time of the year for them to keep and look back on for many years.

I AM RETURNING FOR THE 2019 MILLARVILLE RACES

You may recall that I was taking pictures of Thoroughbred Racing for the first time at the 113th Annual Millarville Races on Canada Day this past July. Well here is the just released Sponsorship Marketing package for the 114th Annual 2019 Show next July, in which 9 of my photos have been selected and put in for this advertisement (on pages 1, 2, 3 and 6).

The committee wants me back for next year, so I am very happy to say that I will be back for the 2019 Millarville Races. Expect bigger and better things this time around (hello V.I.P tent), though some of the photos I took are going to be pretty difficult to top - if I can't beat them this November at the Breeders' Cup in Kentucky.

I can't believe it's already been three and a half months since the Millarville Races have passed, time flies.

EQUINE PORTRAITURE: MINEA & MYA HILL

Here are the few photos from my third shoot with Minea and Mya Hill together with their two horses Elantra and Mowgli but unfortunately we had to end it quick due to the weather.

We will be re-scheduling for some time in the Spring of 2019 around the same area. Elbow Falls during a sunset or sunrise is what I suggested as there is a much larger area to work with, as well as the mountains and falls in the back which would make for some spectacular back drops.

Horses with their owners, mountains and flowing water during the Spring season... a lot of potential there.
