FOALS IN WATER VALLEY, AB.

Steven Quon May 23, 2018

Thank you Lisa Janssen for having me out to photograph your two foals. I had a wonderful time! One foal was one and a half month's old and the other was just a day old, the perfect time for me to make my first trek out to Water Valley, AB. What a sight it was to see.

There was no running around and playing from the foals, mostly napping so I decided to capture those moments.

FYI, I am also still on schedule for my most anticipated photo shoot of foals in July.

I AM HEADING TO THE 2018 BREEDERS' CUP!

Steven Quon May 14, 2018

WELL IT IS OFFICIAL!!!

I am heading to the 2018 BREEDERS' CUP in Louisville Kentucky taking place on Friday November 2nd and Saturday November 3rd at the Churchill Downs race track. I will be staying in Lexington.

This was an opportunity that I could not pass up.

I will mostly be shooting candid including some back end stuff. Security is going to be extremely tight behind the scenes and there are very specific rules that I must follow.

The great news is that because I am formally announcing this 5+ months prior to the event, it gives me plenty of time to research and take on individual assignments from small legitimate sources whether it is media, news, associations or publication blogs who will be at the Breeders' Cup on assignment and in need of a photographer. If anyone happens to know of any, feel free to have them contact me and I will tell them what I can do for them. TIA.

I do not have permission or the rights to shoot from the inner circle (an extremely highly conveted spot), but I will be right on the track to get my action shots. I will have my share of action shots but I also plan on capturing this event from another angle putting a heavy emphasis on candid.

This is going to be one heck of an experience and I will soak in every second of it. This is going to be one heck of an experience and I will soak in every second of it. There is no denying that I will be high on adrenaline upon arrival but after some minute have passed, I should be able to settle in nicely.

In addition, I mentioned last week that I wanted in on the 113th annual Millarville Race on Canada Day (July 1st). I am pleased to say that I will be there - along the track, behind the scenes and in the inner circle.

INTRODUCING EQUINE SHOWS & EVENTS: ONE-TO-ONE

Steven Quon May 11, 2018

Over the past few months I've had a commonly asked and very popular request where both, individuals and parents asking for their children were curious if I would photograph them or their kids in a show or event. So as a result my Equine Shows & Events service has expanded with a newly added service called 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝘄𝘀 & 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝘀: 𝗢𝗻𝗲-𝘁𝗼-𝗢𝗻𝗲.

Equine Shows & Events: One-to-One is a personalized photo shoot for individual riders who are competing or showing in an Equine show or event and would like photos of just them self and their horse(s). This is tailored to anyone who desires the entire spotlight and to be my sole focus when I work behind the cameras.

HARNESS RACING (2) AT CENTURY DOWNS RACE TRACK

Steven Quon May 11, 2018

Well great news everyone, I got them done sooner than expected, here they are! This was just my second time at the race track. My first visit a month ago was great but I wanted to get different and more difficult shots this time around. I started to settle in and find my groove during this second visit and I have full confidence moving forward when it comes to photographing the OTTB's for Horse Racing Alberta later this year.

Speaking of big races, I am presently working on getting myself into the 113th annual Millarville Race at the Millarville Racetrack on Canada Day this year (July 1st). No guarantees but I am trying my best to get myself on that big stage.

Also on another note, I have modified and changed up my watermarking procedure, as my previous one had some holes in the system that I wanted to immediately address. I always do my best to make my photos the most visible for all of you but there is a fine line that you just can't cross when it comes to protecting your images.

I will be back at the race track this Saturday but only for 2-3 hours.

EQUINE PORTRAITURE: CORINNE MCAFEE

Steven Quon May 6, 2018

Here is my surprise that I announced this past Friday, it's early!

This past week at the Mane Event in Red Deer, AB I sat in on a demo hosted by 𝗖𝗼𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗻𝗲 𝗠𝗰𝗔𝗳𝗲𝗲 with her paint mare "Flicka". Here is Corinne's bio.

Corinne received a well deserved standing ovation for her demo. I was very inspired by not just Corinne's speech and her demo but who she is as a person and her passion in helping others with disabilities pursue their love and dreams for horses. I wanted to reach out to Corinne, I tried after her demo was finished but it was just too busy so I decided to contact her after the weekend.

For those of you who know me on a personal level, you know that I have a soft spot for people with disabilities - whether it's physical or mental. I always do what I can to assist them, the littlest things and kind gestures goes a long ways.

It's special people in this world like Corinne who encourages others that no matter what struggles that you face everyday, you are able to overcome anything in life. The key to life is accepting challenges. Challenges help you discover who you are.

As soon as I reached out to Corinne, I offered her some portrait photos of her and Flicka. It was my thank you to her for doing what she does and being the amazing inspirational person that she is to others around her.

Business is not all about making money, it's also about helping others and volunteering your time when you see fit.

Thank you Corinne McAfee for following up with me. I hope these images give you forever memories of the wonderful job that you have done with Flicka and with the community. The very last photo in this bunch, of the John Deere, is for your mother and father.

"SNAP & GO" MINI PORTRAITURE SESSIONS

Steven Quon April 26, 2018

I am proud to announce a new service added onto my Equine Shows & Events, called "Snap & Go".

These are mini portraiture sessions for riders and individuals attending any Equine Show and Event that I am working at, who would like pictures of them with their horse(s) at the convenience of having your pictures taken while on location.

"Snap & Go" comes in two types:
Snap & Go: Solo and Snap & Go: With Friends.

Three reasons why I added this service.

1) TIME
As busy horse owners and people working in the industry, everyone has different
schedules and separate things going on in their lives. Not everyone has the same
flexibility when it comes to committing to a one, two or three hour photo shoot during
   the work week.

2) CONVENIENCE:
The opportunity to get pictures of you with your horse(s) is right there at your fingertips
since I am on location. As your Equestrian photographer, my goal is to make the
whole experience the simplest and most convenient...for you.

3) FRIENDS:
Being in the Equestrian world, it's not everyday that we get to see all of our horsey friends
and it's most definitely not everyday that we get to attend a fun Show or Event with them.
Some of our most wonderful memories in our lives are the ones spent with friends. This is
a fantastic time to capture those laughs and forever memories with your friends and
everyone's horses. There are amazing things that you can do when you
get into group portraits with multiple horses and I cannot wait to dabble into it.

A full breakdown of the "Snap & Go" service.

Snap & Go: Solo
3 [4x6] digital photos, 15 minutes, $50.
