IT'S ALL ABOUT COMMUNICATION

Steven Quon July 15, 2018

My Equine Shows & Events marketing video.

Well how is that for a super turnaround time? I did not expect to get yesterday's video with Nelly Murphy, Anne Murphy and Rolex done that quick but I have a crazy busy next couple weeks ahead so I wanted to get it cleared off my agenda.

The big question "Why am I not sharing this Live?" As much as I would love to, Facebook has quite significant extra compression for videos posted Live as opposed to pre-recorded and videos like these, you need to see all the detail in the video.

Thank you Nelly Murphy, Anne Murphy and Rolex for being such wonderful stars on camera. How about Nelly on that voice over work? She did a stellar job!

I will be doing a Director's Cut for this video very soon, since I take the video's native audio out, this may be done over Facebook Live, I will have to see.

Thank you Anne Murphy for providing me with a detailed bio on Nelly since I did not know very much about her prior. They were both superb to work with and being the social media newbie than I am, Nelly even took the time to teach me the in's and out's of Instagram stories on my Instagram account. Hey we all learn new things every day from all ages. :)

KEY 2019 PROJECT OFF TO A GREAT START!

Steven Quon June 27, 2018

Just over a month ago I mentioned that I will eventually be making a very big and special announcement for a large and key project in 2019.

Perhaps many of you have had the opportunity to meet this individual in person, perhaps many of you have been taught by this individual at some point in your life, regardless this individual is a VERY well known and highly accomplished name in the horse world.

Now, it's still far too early to announce who this person is but I just wanted to say that today was a great start for the both of us, as we had our first discussion and shared our thoughts in terms of what end product we are going to put out for the horse world to see. The great news is that we have a lot of time from now until 2019 to plan things out - it's going to be amazing.

DIRECTOR'S CUT ON MY EQUINE PORTRAITURE & EQUINE VIDEOGRAPHY MARKETING VIDEOS

Steven Quon June 24, 2018

Many have been curious so I thought I would share a little more insight on how I went about making my (thus far) two marketing videos for my Equine Portraiture and Equine Videography services.

Enjoy! :)

EQUINE VIDEOGRAPHY: YOU CAN DO IT!

Steven Quon June 6, 2018

Here is the second piece to my video marketing, covering my Equine Videography service - in this case, documentary. Again make sure your volume is up! :)

It is called "You Can Do It!".

Thank you to Taylor Bland and her superstar mare Winnie for really nailing it on camera. They were spectacular and I couldn't have asked for a better pair to work with me on camera.

The mosquitoes out in the field were extremely bad, twelve bites in the hour that we were out there so it made filming that much more difficult but I was willing to pay the price to get the job done.

EQUINE VIDEOGRAPHY: THE STORY OF KIM AND SKYLAR

Steven Quon May 30, 2018

Here is my first video marketing piece for my Equine Portraiture - the story of Kim and Skylar.

Make sure your volume is up. :)

Kim Vos and Skylar did such spectacular jobs on camera. :) Thank you Kim for putting up with me because I went in knowing exactly how this video was going to look from start to finish. Both Kim and Skylar were such great sports, they were very patient with me as I went about composing each shot.

Evelyn & Marc Sabraw (R3)

Steven Quon April 7, 2018

Thank you to Evelyn & Marc Sabraw for being such great hosts and speakers on camera. This was a first experience for the both of them and lets give them a hand for doing such a superb job on camera.

This was a super exciting but also rather interesting experience, interesting in the way of it being -33C on the day we did this shoot so we resorted to do all the speaking indoors. It was cold!!! Thankfully we found a nice small heated spot that provided us with adequate natural light coming through two windows just after the morning sunrise.

It was a very limited space so as much as I wanted to roll more than one camera at a time, the amount of space unfortunately just did not allow for it. Just as a note, I usually shoot with one main camera and one "B" camera that switches back and fourth between the two speakers, perhaps you may see this in future shoots.

Either way it still worked out great as Evelyn and Marc had such great content to share with the Equestrian world. Working with newcomers who have never been on camera before is an area that I have quite a bit of experience in and it's something that I really enjoy doing because speaking on camera is an entirely different experience than just having pictures taken of you.

In terms of filming out in the field, well unfortunately there was also a lot of snow (as it snowed 10cm the day before) with many hard patches of compacted ice, snow and dirt so it made sneak camming out in the fields and paddocks that much more difficult but it was still well worth it to get what we wanted.

I hope you all enjoy the heart felt story that this wonderful couple had to share!

A DAY IN THE HELICOPTER

Steven Quon February 21, 2018

Well here it is folks! The official launch to my Equine Videography portfolio with my very first piece!

Now this is a bit different from the kind of video I will be specializing in for the Horse world (Documentaries and Promotional videos), but I knew that my trip up to Sundre, AB shooting the Wild Horse count video was going to be an experience to remember, so I just had to make the whole experience my first video in my portfolio. We couldn't have asked for a nicer day as the sky was as clear as it could be.

***𝗧𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘀𝗲 𝗳𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗴𝗲 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘃𝗶𝗱𝗲𝗼, 𝗶𝘁 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝘄𝗻 𝗽𝘂𝗯𝗶𝗰𝗹𝘆.***

Going on about the day, I was shooting both videos simultaneously throughout the day constantly switching back and fourth between two different cameras. Everything was happening really fast so I had to pre-plan and act really quick to film both videos on the fly simultaneously. You will only see "some" of the footage of the wild horses in this one video.

Now because there was strict guidelines as for how much gear I was able to bring in the helicopter, I had to resort to using my action cam for shooting this video. I also was unable to have my action cam on my head (my original plan) for a first person perspective as there was just not enough space. However, the toughest sacrifice by far was not being able to use my tripod or monopod so this made it a real challenge in stabilizing not only myself but my lens when it came to the Wild Horse count video. So unfortunately I had to shoot it handheld - not ideal, but again you have to work within what you are allowed.

I underestimated just how much vibration happens in the helicopter and how difficult it is to stabilize your cameras while still having to stabilize and position yourself seated in a very tight space. It was tough, I had to limit how I used my cameras inside that cockpit while not getting in the pilot's way or obstructing his field of view.

The one thing that I would have liked to incorporate was the pilot speaking (or any of the other three members in the helicopter), but the sounds from the rotors and turbulence was just too strong and because we communicated through headsets, you can't make out the voices.

Click on the Preview (with the big play button) right at the top of this post to watch my video. Make sure you turn up your volume!!! Video is not even half as good without sound!

I hope you all Like it!
