WINTER FOG CREATES LOVELY MOMENTS

Steven Quon December 25, 2019

The extreme fog here in Alberta has made for some pretty photo opportunities as of late.

There's nothing better than spending time with your horses at this time of year.

RANDOM ACT OF KINDNESS, CHRISTMAS 2019

Steven Quon December 24, 2019

Christmas is a wonderful time of year for many but unfortunately it's one of the most difficult times for many others. There's always people at this time of the year that just need someone to reach out to, and this is where I wanted to step up and make a difference. I knew that I could boost spirits, help individuals get back on their feet and assist them in creating an action plan to follow through in the New Year.

I know that I'm not a professional in addressing anxiety or depression, but what I do know is my knowledge that I've gained from my experiences in battling and overcoming both anxiety and depression. Over 14 people were set to attend on this day but unfortunately only a couple showed up. It is an awful lot to ask of anyone who is suffering from anxiety and/or depression to attend an event like this, but the more important thing is that all 14 plus of these individuals reached out to me for help and that is the first step in finding ways to cope with your disorder. My original plan was to give a speech to the group, where you would actually hear what I am saying in parts of it.

Both individuals who attended walked out more confident and stronger than when they first walked in and most importantly, they went home with an action plan, too see the light at the end of the tunnel.

There is no shame in being depressed or feeling anxious and one should never feel ashamed for speaking up and bringing awareness to the ones who care about them the most. Asking for help isn't weakness, it's the strength of a person acknowledging their need for help and wanting change in their life.
