Another great moment with couples

BRINGING IN BUILDING STRUCTURES TO YOUR IMAGES

Steven Quon August 30, 2019

In this picture, I really wanted to get the entire back side of the barn in frame but unfortunately the grass was too long and I wasn't able to get the angle that I was looking for from the height that I wanted to capture it from, so I worked with the limitations that I had.

You can do some really dramatic and creative stuff when you bring in building structures.

Still a nice moment between Kim, Ron and Whiddy.

A NEW TYPE OF EQUINE PORTRAITURE IS COMING SOON!

Steven Quon August 29, 2019

I am getting inquiries again about shooting full weddings with horses. I still won't photograph weddings (it's not my thing and it's an entirely different market).

However, I do have some wonderful news and that is, I am about to introduce a 5th type of Equine Portraiture, which will be coming soon - 𝗘𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝗣𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗽𝗹𝗲𝘀.

Just because I will not do weddings, it doesn't mean that my Equine Portraiture service doesn't fit in with wedding scenarios with couples who are wanting portraiture pictures with their horses.

And even then outside of weddings, doing portraiture with couples and their horses creates some completely different moments like this one, that portraiture with one individual does not offer.

THOSE SIMPLE MOMENTS WITH HORSES

Steven Quon August 28, 2019

Isn't this what being involved with horses is all about? The sheer happiness that they bring to our lives and the smiles that they put on our faces? I feel that simple, non flashy moments like these can often be overlooked.

You tell me...

INTRODUCING EQUINE PORTRAITURE: CHERISH!

Steven Quon June 28, 2019

I've decided to put out my 4th type of Equine Portraiture right away, since I am going to be busy filming two new videos in August and the second one is going to be pretty darn special.

It is called 𝗘𝗤𝗨𝗜𝗡𝗘 𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗥𝗔𝗜𝗧𝗨𝗥𝗘: 𝗖𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗜𝗦𝗛.

Senior horses are the best teachers, and terminally ill horses are the most courageous fighters.

When your horse ages or becomes sick, you often feel like you are grieving alone and it's understandable to worry about what lies ahead.

During these times, horses require extra care, love and attention to avoid serious health concerns. While they may not be as young and healthy as they once were, nothing would make you happier than seeing your horse enjoying life by merely just being a horse and spending time with their friends.

Give the gift of love to your senior or ill equine partner by showing them your appreciation for everything they have done for you.

EQUINE PORTRAITURE: LIFESTYLE - BRENDA DYCK-MACMASTER

Steven Quon June 20, 2019

One of the challenges when choosing a specific time of day to work in is that you won't know how well that sun will set, or if you are working in the morning then how well that sun will rise until it actually happens. There is a reason why landscape photographer's will often have to make numerous trips back to the same location, because some days they just don't get the kind of light that they are looking for.

The sunset in our photo shoot with Brenda Dyck-MacMaster and her boy Fynnigan was just average, it wasn't terrible but it was far from spectacular. Clouds came in just as the sun would start to go down, then minutes later those clouds were gone and all of a sudden our nicely lit location was too bright, so then we would have to move to another location. This just goes to show you just how quickly the sun moves and when on a larger property you have to move quick to get to your new optimal spot.

The lighting was just never, what I would consider to be breathtaking and that was because the peak of this one sunset was actually when we all had gone home for the night and I was driving off the property. But hey, this is just a prime example of how you can't predict how a sun is going to set or rise on any given day.

This is why when I book my sessions, I always show up 30 minutes prior to the scheduled time, so that I can walk the property and find the absolute best spots and angles to work from.

All in all, I felt that it was still a great outcome. I just would have loved if the sun came down a bit sooner, so that we could have worked in that magical light because it sure was stunning, as I watched the rich oranges, reds and yellows softly stream across the pastures when leaving the property.

It was a pleasure working with you and your boy Brenda and I hope you enjoyed your experience!

UPCOMING PLANS AT THIS BARN

Steven Quon June 7, 2019

Just wait until you see what I have planned at this barn coming up very soon. This includes showing a side of my brand that nobody has seen before and something that I've been wanting to do for quite some time, so I am very excited!

Here's just a quick pic taken with my phone.
